Hi! I'm Holland Webb.
I write, edit, coach, podcast, and chill with 'flix.
In the 8th grade, I determined I would be a writer. I could see myself living in the exotic locales I researched for my mega-bestselling novels. My books would sell like James Michener's, and I would win movie deals like James Clavell.
That dream died after I discovered you couldn't simply declare yourself a writer and make a living. No, I would have to actually write, and readers would have to pay me for what I'd written. Bummer, huh?
Eventually, I did become a professional writer, and today, people do pay me for my words. If that's what you want to do, too, then I'd like to walk with you on your way there.
My passion for writing started as kid when
I met new friends in the pages of every book read.
Today, I love helping writers go from good to published!
I love words. Whether I'm writing, recording, or chatting over dinner, I enjoy the art of selecting just the right words, stringing them together, and watching as their power changes people.
You probably love words as much as I do. Maybe you want to use your words to change people's lives, too. You might even hope to make a career out of writing. If that's you, I want to help you sharpen your writing skills, develop your career, and launch your writing life!
Many writers and entrepreneurs struggle to share their story distinctly. The Write Coach site was created to help bring you tips each week to improve your writing, bring clarity to your message, create your masterpiece, and encourage you to complete your book!
My favorite thing is helping people accomplish their ambitions!
My Writing Journey
My journey from aspiring novelist to paid freelance writer and writing coach took a few unexpected, hairpin turns along the way.
I majored in Christian Ministry, earned a master's degree in international public policy, and spent seven years in international development work. When the economy tanked, I had to find something else to do, so I plucked up my family and we went on a three-year adventure in Central America. I taught English and a smattering of other subjects at a middle school and a university in Guatemala.
When we came back to the U.S., I looked for just the right fit. Somehow neither the world of ministry nor the nonprofit sector seemed like home any longer. I brushed up my writing skills, which felt like my one real talent, and managed to secure my first freelance client. Before long, I landed another client, then a full-time job as an editor for a marketing company. Finally, I launched my own business as a freelance writer and editor in 2016.
Over time, I started to meet people who asked: I'd like to be a full-time writer, too. Should I hire a writing coach? Can you help me?
Yes, you need a coach. And yes, I can help you become a writer.
Let's talk.
